Integrity for Kids through Karate

Canadian Black Belt Academy – Mississauga

February Week 1: INTEGRITY

"Integrity is doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching." – Anonymous

At Canadian Black Belt Academy Mississauga, we emphasize integrity as a foundation of martial arts and life. When you practice integrity, you hold yourself to a high standard—always choosing the right path, regardless of who is watching.

Integrity means sticking to your commitments, working hard in training, and treating others with respect. It’s about standing up for what’s right, even when it’s difficult. It’s easy to do the right thing when everyone is watching, but true character is revealed in the moments when no one is looking.

Integrity is also about being accountable for our actions. If we fall short, we learn from our mistakes and work harder to improve. In Karate, that might mean pushing yourself to train even when you feel tired or encouraging your classmates even when you’re struggling yourself.

Ask yourself:

  1. Have you ever been faced with a situation where doing the right thing was hard?
  2. How did it feel to stand by your values?
  3. How can you practice integrity at home, in school, and in Karate?

Integrity is a key part of becoming not just a great martial artist, but a great person. Let’s live by our values every day!
